Canon EOS R6 Mark III - 7K RAW recording, Open Gate, IBIS 8.5 stops
Canon Marketing Vietnam launches full-frame mirrorless camera EOS R6 Mark III and 2 new RF lenses.
Alongside the EOS R6 Mark III full-frame mirrorless camera body, there are two new RF-mount lenses, the RF 45mm F1.2 STM and the RF 85mm F1.4L VCM. Mr. Imasaka Daido, General Director of Canon Marketing Vietnam, said that the EOS R6 Mark III is the third generation of the '6' Series, integrating the latest imaging and video technologies, positioning it as a tool for content creators.

Sensors and still image capture
The main upgrade of the EOS R6 Mark III is the use of a 32.5 megapixel (MP) Full-Frame CMOS sensor. This sensor has a resolution increase of 34% compared to 24.2 MP on the previous generation, providing more flexibility in cropping images after shooting while still preserving detail.
Despite the increased data volume, the EOS R6 Mark III's processor maintains a continuous shooting speed of 40 fps using the electronic shutter and 12 fps with the mechanical shutter. The camera is capable of shooting approximately 150 consecutive shots at 40 fps.
A key new feature for high-speed photography is “Pre-continuous shooting”. This feature allows the EOS R6 III to record images (up to 20 fps) even before the user fully presses the shutter button. Pre-continuous shooting supports all formats, from RAW, C-RAW to HEIF, in all autofocus modes.
In terms of stabilization, the body is equipped with a 5-axis image stabilization system (IBIS - In-Body Image Stabilizer). When combined with lenses that support Coordinated Control IS, the anti-shake effect can reach 8.5 stops.
Professional video capabilities
The Canon EOS R6 Mark III has major upgrades to meet users' video recording needs. The most significant upgrade is the ability to record 7K 60p 12-bit RAW video (Canon RAW Light Movie format) directly to the internal memory card. The maximum recording resolution in 16:9 mode is 6912 x 3672.
For the first time on the EOS R system, the R6 Mark III supports “Open Gate” shooting mode, which records across the entire sensor in a 3:2 ratio. In this mode, the camera can shoot at 7K resolution (6912 x 4640) at 30p, supporting both 10-bit MP4 and 12-bit RAW formats.
The Open Gate 3:2 feature is a hardware solution for multi-platform content creators. Open Gate allows users to shoot once and during post-production, they can flexibly crop to 16:9 (for YouTube), 9:16 (for Reels/TikTok), 1:1 (for Instagram) or any other ratio while maintaining high resolution.
The EOS R6 Mark III also adds the Canon Log 2 gamma profile, which offers a wider dynamic range (over 15 stops). C-Log 2 allows the EOS R6 Mark III to be used as a secondary camera (B-cam/C-cam), allowing for smooth video intercut with professional Cinema EOS cameras such as the C300/C500.
When shooting RAW 7K 60p (saved to CFexpress Type B cards), the EOS R6 III can simultaneously record an MP4 proxy file or a 4K DCI Fine sub-movie to the SD card slot. This further facilitates post-production, speeding up editing without the need to manually create proxies.
The Canon EOS R6 Mark III supports High Frame Rate 4K recording up to 119.8p and DCI 2K/Full-HD up to 179.8p. What's special is that the camera still records sound when recording in HFR modes.
Hardware and Focus system
To support 7K RAW 60p internal recording, the EOS R6 III's storage capabilities also needed to change. Unlike the EOS R6 Mark II, which used two SD UHS-II card slots, the R6 Mark III features one CFexpress Type B and one SD UHS-II (V90 supported). To support high-end video recording, the R6 Mark III integrates a full suite of professional exposure monitoring tools that the previous generation lacked. These tools include Waveform, False Color and Zebra display. It also supports loading custom LUT (Look-Up Tables) files and custom picture profiles from the Cinema EOS series.
The Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus system has been enhanced with a new algorithm for more precise subject tracking. It inherits the “Register People Priority” feature from the flagship EOS R1. This feature allows up to 100 faces to be registered in advance, which the AF system then prioritizes for tracking even in complex group shooting situations such as weddings or sporting events.
RF 45mm F1.2 STM Lens
The Canon RF 45mm F1.2 STM is a lens that “democratizes” the f/1.2 aperture, bringing this parameter out of the high-end L Series for the first time. To achieve the lower cost and light weight (about 346 grams), the Canon RF 45mm F1.2 STM uses PMo (molded resin) aspherical lenses instead of ground glass, in addition to a gear-type STM motor instead of Nano USM. Focus breathing is also handled by in-camera digital adjustment instead of complex optical correction. The RF 45mm F1.2 STM offers a natural angle of view close to the human eye, aimed at the group of semi-professional users who want the bokeh effect of f/1.2 without investing in a more expensive L Series lens.
In contrast, the RF 85mm F1.4L VCM is a brand new L Series hybrid lens, designed for both professional photographers and videographers. The Canon RF 85mm F1.4L VCM uses a Voice Coil Motor (VCM), balancing fast focusing speeds for stills with smooth, quiet operation for video. This lens was designed to address the video limitations of the RF 85mm f/1.2L USM, which is large, heavy and has suboptimal focusing for video.
The reference price for Canon EOS R6 Mark III (body) in Vietnam is 71,830,000 VND; RF 45mm F1.2 STM lens is 11,910,000 VND and RF 85mm F1.4L VCM is 43,900,000 VND.
