ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) launched the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X gaming handheld in Vietnam.

This is a new generation of gaming handheld developed based on the cooperation between ROG and Xbox, equipped with AMD Ryzen Z2 Series processor.

Interface and software

ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X come with Windows 11 pre-installed with the Xbox-developed “Xbox Full Screen Experience” interface, replacing the traditional Windows interface at startup. This interface is optimized for controller control, allowing users to access the game library from Game Pass, along with other platforms such as Steam or Epic Games. There is a dedicated Xbox button on the left side to quickly call up the Xbox Game Bar, integrated with ASUS Armoury Crate SE software, allowing customization of performance and system settings.

Ergonomic design

The design of the ROG Xbox Ally (only white) and ROG Xbox Ally X (only black, with a patterned surface of the letters XBOX) is inspired by the Xbox game controller, with larger grips for a firm grip. The ROG Xbox Ally model weighs 670 grams, while the ROG Xbox Ally X version weighs 715 grams. The button system, triggers and joysticks on the Xbox Ally X version are redesigned for more bounce and precise response. In particular, the ROG Xbox Ally X is equipped with haptic feedback triggers (Impulse Triggers), capable of vibrating independently for each operation in the game.

Screen and sound

Both new gaming handheld models are equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen, Full HD resolution (1080p) with a 120 Hz refresh rate, maximum brightness of 500 nits. This screen is capable of covering 100% of the sRGB color gamut, supporting AMD FreeSync Premium refresh rate synchronization technology. In terms of sound, the duo integrates a 2-speaker Dolby Atmos system and a vibration feedback system on both sides of the controller to enhance the user experience.

ROG Xbox Ally X Configuration

The high-end ROG Xbox Ally X uses the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, which has 20% higher graphics performance than the previous generation Z1 Extreme. The chip also integrates an NPU for future artificial intelligence (AI) features. The device is equipped with 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 1 TB of SSD storage and an 80 Wh battery, providing a usage time of 2 to 6 hours depending on the task.

ROG Xbox Ally Configuration

The standard ROG Xbox Ally is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2A processor, which focuses on performance at low power consumption. It has 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 512 GB of SSD storage and a 60 Wh battery. The battery life can last up to 6 hours, making it suitable for popular 2D or console games.

ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X price

The official retail price for ROG Xbox Ally is 14,990,000 VND. The higher-end version – ROG Xbox Ally X – is priced at 24,990,000 VND.
